Research

Ryan Sincavage, Ph.D., has focused his research on interpretation of the sedimentary record to infer past earth surface environments. With many years of experience in industry and academia he has had the opportunity to explore a wide variety of sedimentary basins around the globe.

His research includes traditional geologic mapping, unmanned aerial systems (UAS), and basic numerical modeling to answer questions related to the influence of tectonics, climate, and extreme events on river channel behavior and the resulting stratigraphic record.

Current research areas:

  • The Ganges-Brahmaputra-Meghna delta (GBMD), Bangladesh
  • Foreland basins of the eastern Himalaya, including Bangladesh, Myanmar, and the eastern Indian states of Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh, and Assam.
  • Soler valley, Cachet basin, and the Nef and Colonia glaciers, the Aysen region of northern Patagonia, Chile

Previous research and industry experience:

  • Seismic stratigraphy of deep water Gulf of Mexico
  • Shallow geophysical exploration for unexploded ordnance (UXO)
  • 3-D multi-channel marine and onshore seismic surveying
  • Groundwater and soil sampling and monitoring
