As the Director of Academic Planning, Melanie Fox provides leadership, planning, coordination, and development for institutional evaluation of programs and initiatives to further the university's strategic objectives for improving teaching, learning, and administrative processes. She assists faculty, staff, and administrators with assessment, reporting, and utilizing results of assessment results for meaningful, data-informed decision-making. She also leads the university in maintaining compliance with state laws and state and regional accreditation policies with oversight of complex policy interpretation and implementation. Melanie Fox's higher education experience spans over 20 years of teaching and administration and she previously was a full-time instructor at Radford. She has also worked as a senior technical editor in the area of advanced technology research and development. She is currently a doctoral candidate in higher education at the University of West Georgia where her research focuses on belonging and success among first-generation college students. She also holds a master鈥檚 degree in English from Iowa State University and undergraduate degrees in English and French from Indiana University. Her goal is to engage administrators, faculty, and staff in initiating and supporting communities of practice in planning and implementation, accreditation, and organizational improvement.
