ECON 488H: Final Honors Project
Prerequisite: Completion of economics requirements, enrollment in the Honors Academy, a minimum 3.5 GPA in all courses and in economics.

To earn a bachelor's degree with honors in economics, a student may conduct research and write a thesis or prepare for and take a comprehensive examination. In order to receive honors credit, a student must earn a grade of 鈥淎鈥 or 鈥淏鈥 for the final project. Course may not be repeated.
Detailed Description of Content of the Course
The content of the course will vary for each student. The student will either write an original thesis or take a comprehensive examination. All final projects must be approved by the department and the Honors Council.

Detailed Description of Conduct of the Course
The student's final project supervisor will ask two other faculty members, at least one of whom will be from the Economics Department, to serve as readers. This committee will evaluate the student's work.
Goals and Objectives of the Course
The goal of this course is to provide students who are both in the Honors Program and Economics majors with the opportunity to use what they have learned during their four years economics study. The final project should demonstrate their ability to conduct research, to analyze what they uncover, and to communicate ideas effectively.
Assessment Measures
The supervisor of the final project and the final project committee will be responsible for evaluating the success of the project.
