V. Course Description: 

This course provides a comprehensive overview of strategies for successful learning and engagement in the RN- BSN program at 澳门老奇人论坛 culminating in a baccalaureate degree in Nursing. The strategies include: introduction to RN-BSN coursework, professional writing utilizing APA format, review of plagiarism, understanding of scholarly and reputable sources, time management, online etiquette, and professional communication with faculty and peers.

VI. Detailed Description of Content of the Course:

Topic Outline:

  1. Orientation to the RN-BSN program with technological requirements and other resources 
  2. Self-Reflection: Embracing the role of life long learner and professional nurse
  3. Scholarly Writing: APA formatting, style, plagiarism, academic Integrity 
  4. Literature review: use of scholarly and professional resources for written work, search strategies using electronic databases
  5. Self-Care: Time management approaches and work-life balance 
  6. Professional communication and online etiquette

VII. Goals and Objectives of the Course:

The objectives and content of this RN-BSN Course are derived from the School of Nursing鈥檚 philosophy and conceptual framework, and facilitate achievement of the School鈥檚 program objectives as well as the Essentials of Baccalaureate Education (AACN). Additionally, the major topics and skills covered in this course represent content that is requisite for a baccalaureate degree in nursing. Current research and advancement in theory and clinical practice also determine content. 

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to: 

  1. Develop self-reflection of one鈥檚 own values and commitment to excellence in practice (E-I, VIII; PO-1,8) 
  2. Implement the required technologies and behaviors for success in the RN-BSN program. (E- IV, VI, VIII; PO- 4)
  3. Develop scholarly writing skills using APA format and style. (E-I, III; PO-1)
  4. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of plagiarism and what constitutes plagiarism in written work. (E-III; PO-3,4)
  5. Identify appropriate resources to use as references in written work. (E-III; PO-3,4)
  6. Demonstrate skill using research technologies in preparing a review of literature. (E-III; PO-3)
  7. Utilize effective time management strategies to organize course and program requirements with professional and personal responsibilities. (E- VIII, PO-8)
  8. Demonstrate collaborative communication with peers and timely, professional communication with faculty. (E- VI; PO- 6)
