NURS 898

NURS 898: Directed Study in Advanced Practice Nursing

Prerequisite: 12 semester hours of graduate credits, NURS 800, and approval from the student鈥檚 advisor, the faculty advisor for the directed study, and the Dean of the Graduate College.

Credit Hours:  (1-3)

Provides the opportunity to pursue additional in depth study relevant to advanced nursing practice. Development of a proposal approved by the Graduate College is required.  See Directed Study Guidelines in the Graduate Catalog and the School of Nursing Graduate Handbook.

Determined by objectives developed by the student and the faculty advisor.

 

Detailed Description of Conduct of Course

The following teaching strategies will be employed but are not limited to: Proposal development, student-advisor discussions, independent assignments and reading, research and program data analysis and evaluation, and written reports, including publishable papers.

 

Goals and Objectives of this Course

The goal of the course is to provide the student with an additional opportunity to synthesize knowledge of nursing and related theories, research methods, and advanced nursing practice through in depth study of a practice problem which may include participation in a research study or program/project development.

 

Assessment Measures

Acceptance of directed study report by advisor and one reader.
