PSYC 698: Directed Study
Prerequisites: Permission of the instructor, advisor, department chair, and dean of the Graduate College
Credit Hours: Variable credit, (1-4)
Provides graduate students opportunity to work individually with faculty members on topics of mutual interest. See 鈥淒irected Study.鈥
Detailed Description of Content of Course
Each proposal for a Directed Study must include a description of the course's content. That description should include the primary and secondary readings that will be central features of the study. the nature and purposes of writing assignments, and the nature and purposes of any projects, performances, or field experiences that will be a part of the study.
Detailed Description of Conduct of Course
Each proposal for a Directed Study must include a description of how the study will be conducted. This description should detail the kinds of meetings and other interactions the graduate student and the graduate professor will have. If other persons will be a part of the study, their roles and the nature of their interactions with the student should also be detailed.
Goals and Objectives of the Course
Each proposal for a Directed Study must include a description of the study's goals and objectives. These goals can be both content centered and process centered.
Assessment Measures
Each proposal for a Directed Study must include a description of how the student's performance will be evaluated.
Other Course Information
Proposals for a Directed Study should not replicate the content of established courses. They should provide opportunities for students to study and perform in ways that established courses do not permit.
