V. Course Description: 

Biological principles are applied to understand human health and disease. Anatomy, physiology, and pathology are associated with diseases and other health-related problems of public health significance. The scientific basis for the development of preventive interventions and screening programs is examined.

Note(s): General Education designated course.

VI. Goals and Objectives of the Course:

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will:

  2. Integrate the disease process with exposures and disease outcomes across the public health spectrum.
  3. Identify the role of host and environmental factors in determining susceptibility and resistance to disease.
  4. Summarize the social, legal, ethical, economic, and political context of contemporary public health problems.
