V. Course Description:
Biological principles are applied to understand human health and disease. Anatomy,
physiology, and pathology are associated with diseases and other health-related problems
of public health significance. The scientific basis for the development of preventive
interventions and screening programs is examined.

VI. Goals and Objectives of the Course:
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will:

- Integrate the disease process with exposures and disease outcomes across the public
health spectrum.
- Identify the role of host and environmental factors in determining susceptibility
and resistance to disease.
- Summarize the social, legal, ethical, economic, and political context of contemporary
