V. Course Description: 

Students examine health issues, scientific understanding of causes, and approaches to control environmental and occupational related health problems.

Note(s): Scientific and Quantitative Reasoning designated course.

VI. Goals and Objectives of the Course:

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will

  1. Discuss the history and definitions of environmental and occupational health.
  2. Describe the chemical, physical, and biological agents that originate in the environment and the mechanisms by which they can impact human health.
  3. Evaluate the methods used to assess environmental and occupational exposures and hazards.
  4. Analyze policies to manage health risks associated with work-related hazards and exposures to environmental agents.
