RCPT 432: Research and Technology Applications in Recreation, Parks and Tourism

Prerequisites: RCPT 210  

Credit Hours: (3) Two hours lecture, two hours laboratory

Prepares students for research and evaluation in recreation, parks and tourism. Computer skills and/or applicable technology will be used to conduct a research project during the semester. Instruction is related to applied research projects including statistical analysis and how computer applications can be used to enhance assessment, management, evaluation and program delivery.

Note(s): Applied Learning designated course. Students cannot receive credit for this course if they have received credit for either RCPT 336 or RCPT 436.

 

Detailed Description of Content of Course

This course is divided into three major content areas: research principles, computer applications, and applied research. Students will learn and practice computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Photoshop, and RecWare) as a means of enhancing assessment, management, evaluation and program delivery. Research principles and statistical analysis will be taught in class and practiced through an applied research project. All students will pass human subject training as part of the course.

Detailed Description of Conduct of Course

Instruction will occur through lectures, computer instruction, and applied research projects. Students will be expected to function in small groups to complete assignments. Ethical research principles will be reinforced throughout the course.

 

Goals and Objectives of the Course

At the completion of this course, students will be able to:

3.  澳门老奇人论坛 current ethical principles in the conduct of research.
4.  Utilize the tools of professional communication.

 

Assessment Measures

Grades will be determined by quizzes/exams, technology applications, research projects, group evaluations, and human subjects training.
