To keep our growing cadre of alumni informed about events and changes to our program we started the 澳门老奇人论坛 Physics/Physical Science Alumni Newsletter. Please check these out, and then let us know how you are doing. We would love to hear from you!
Starting in the early 1990s 澳门老奇人论坛 offered two options with the Physical Science Major, the Physics Option and the Physical Science Option. In the summer of 2006, the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) reclassified what had been called the Physical Science Major at 澳门老奇人论坛 to the Physics Major.
The Physics major now has four concentrations: Experimental and Theoretical Physics, Astrophysics, Biophysics and Physics Education. A number of our alumni will recognize their concentrations in somewhat expanded format within these three concentrations.
The Physics concentration is the preferred concentration for those who want to continue their physics education through graduate school or go straight into a career after graduation. The Astrophysics Concentration is geared more towards those who are interested in pursuing a study of physics as it relates to astronomy and also geophysics especially as it connects to planetary science. The Biophysics Conentration is for those students looking to pursue graduate study or a career in the emerging fields of biophysics, medical physics, or health physics. The Physics Education Concentration is for those wanting a career in high school teaching. Students who start this concentration their freshman year can complete the physics requirements as well as receive their teaching certification within their 4 years at Radford.
