CAEP (Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation) has developed three Advanced Programs Accountability Measures for Educator Preparation Providers (EPP), which are used to provide information to the public on program outcome and program impact:
Below are the three accountability measures for the 澳门老奇人论坛's advanced programs with links to data or procedures that provide evidence for each measure. 澳门老奇人论坛's advanced programs are: Educational Leadership, Literacy Education, School Counseling and School Psychology.
澳门老奇人论坛's EPP uses two methods for gathering employer data. First, each program has developed its own employer survey based on program and professional association standards. Second, our EPP participates in a state wide collaborative to collect employer satisfaction data based on CAEP RA 1.1.
(RU, EPP) Employer Satisfaction Surveys: Our advanced programs employer satisfaction survey development began during AY 2020-21 following a similar timeline for each program that included the following steps:
All Advanced Program Advisory Boards are comprised of a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including: RU faculty, partner educators, program alumni, current students, and practicing professionals.
(VEAC) Employer Satisfaction Survey (in development): We are a member of the Virginia Education Assessment Collaborative (VEAC), a state wide collaborative among the 36 educator preparation programs in Virginia designed to (1) provide EPPs employer and completer satisfaction data about their initial and advanced programs; (2) provide EPPs benchmark data regarding how they compare to other statewide EPPs; and (3) provide our K-12 partners with a more efficient process for providing EPPs across the state feedback on their graduates.
As a participating institution, we are participating in the development of a common employer data collection process for our advanced licensure programs. Currently, an employer data collection protocol is in development, for pilot during AY2023-24.
Employer satisfaction data will be collected annually from K-12 administrators across the Commonwealth, and is based upon the six skills/competencies listed in CAEP RA 1.1 & RA 3.4. The data provided will offer feedback on our graduates who are within three years of having completed an advanced program.
Data from employers of 2020-22 program completers via the VEAC employer satisfaction data collection process will be available via this webpage as early as spring 2024.
Each Advanced Program uses different methods to ensure their program completers demonstrate competency at program completion, as reported below:
AY 2020-21 & AY 2021-22 results [Excel] (all programs):
Educational Leadership: Students must pass the Praxis II: School Leaders Licensure Assessment (SLLC; 6990) and complete an internship experience prior to program completion.
100% of candidates who took the Praxis II: SLLC (6990) passed, with a group mean score of 170.48.
Literacy Education: Students must pass the Reading for Virginia Educators (RVE): Reading Specialist (5304) and complete a field experience prior to program completion.
100% of candidates who took the RVE: Reading Specialist (5304) passed, with a group mean score of 184.90.
School Counseling: Students must pass the School Counseling Program's Comprehensive Exam and complete an internship to be eligible for program completion.
100% of candidates who took both parts of the Department of Counselor Education's Comprehensive Exam passed, with a group mean score of 80.48%.
School Psychology: Students must take and pass the Praxis II: School Psychologist (5402/5403) test and complete a practicum in order to be eligible for program completion.
100% of candidates who took the Praxis II: School Psychologist (5402) test passed, with a group mean score of 165.
Ability of Completers to be Hired in Education Positions (for which they have been prepared)
The Commonwealth of VA (VA Department of Education) does not provide information about program completers' licensure approval or employment statuses to degree providers. RU maintains documentation to confirm all teacher candidates complete program requirements. In addition, the RU Teacher Education Program provides candidates with assistance in applying for their licensure.
Using the list of RU Teacher Education Program completers who a) completed their program and b) completed all licensure or endorsement requirements set forth by the Commonwealth of VA, we have found that 100% of program completers (advanced programs) are eligible to be hired in an education position. The majority of these completers are either employed or continuing employent with their initial licensure within one year of program completion.
