About

  • The National Weather Service (NWS) has recognized 澳门老奇人论坛 as a StormReady Supporter.  Earning this recognition indicates that the University has taken the necessary steps to improve emergency first responder and preparedness in the event of a natural diaster.  StormReady uses a grassroots approach to help communities develop plans to handle all types of extreme weather.  StormReady communities are better prepared to handle severe weather through advanced planning, education and awareness.

    To meet StormReady Supporter program requirements, the organization must:

    • Maintain a 24-hour Warning Point and Emergency Operations Center;
    • Have multiple channels to receive NWS warning messages (e.g. NOAA weather radio, TV, website, text alerting);
    • Have multiple capabilities to monitor weather;
    • Have a means to disseminate warning messages to the community;
    • Conduct safety talks and/or initiatives to educate the community on weather safety;
    • Conduct an annual shelter-in-place drill;
    • Complete an initial visit to the NWS Forecast Office and have the NWS complete a visit the the prospective Supporter.  Additionally, complete visits to/from the NWS at least once every 2 years;
    • Maintain a hazardous weather plan as part of the overarching University emergency plan; and
    • The primary contact shall complete basic National Incident Management System and Incident Command System training.
